About Privacy

About once per month someone writes to us and accuses us of the invading their privacy or some such. We wish to assure everyone that we have no data on file about anyone.

The only data we have access to regarding usage of the web site is a server usage log that shows us which pages have been read. We sometimes download and scan this log file with software we have written to produce a summary of which pages at the web site are visited. However, we have no information and retain no information on what individual users see at our web site.

The Apache server software issues a "cookie" to your web browser. We do not own nor control the server; our server space is graciously donated by K3MC at California Wireless, Inc. We do not have access to nor make use of any record that might be kept through the "cookie" process. The server provides a home for other web sites besides our own (such as the non-profit Infrared Data Association at www.irda.org) and the server may generically issue "cookies" as part of its standard configuration for the benefit one of the other web sites.

This web site is run as a hobby. We have no information on you as an individual. We have no desire to have information on you. We do occassionally scan the access log file to determine which of our pages are referenced and produce a statistical summary showing access counts by page. This means we might know, for example, that 75 people read the propagation report on a particular day during the month but we don't have information on who accessed that page. After we scan the log file and produce the statistical summary, we delete the log file.
