Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 August 2026. This page describes what this site collects, why, and what happens to it.
It is written to be read, not to be scrolled past.
The short version
- We do not sell or share your personal information.
- We run no advertising network and no third-party tracking scripts.
- Our analytics is self-hosted and does not use cookies or follow you to other sites.
- You can read the whole forum without an account, and without being individually identified.
If you just read the site
You do not need an account to read. Our analytics is a self-hosted Plausible
instance that we run ourselves rather than a third-party service. It records aggregate page views,
referring sites, approximate country, and general device type. It sets no cookies,
assigns no persistent identifier, and cannot follow you to other websites. Because the data is
aggregated, we cannot use it to identify you.
Our web server keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and
troubleshooting. This site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as a proxy and
therefore also processes your IP address in transit and may set its own security cookies. See
Cloudflare's own privacy documentation for what it does with that.
If you register an account
Registration asks for a username, an email address and a password. Passwords are stored as a
one-way hash and are never readable by us. You may optionally add a profile photo, a biography and
other profile details; anything you put in your public profile is public by definition.
When you are signed in, the forum software sets a session cookie so it can keep
you signed in. That cookie is functional, not analytical, and is removed when you sign out.
Your email address is used for account functions such as password resets and any notifications
you opt into. You can turn notification email off in your account settings.
What you post
Discussions, replies and uploaded images are public and visible to anyone,
including search engines. Uploaded images are stored on this server and served from a public URL.
Please do not post anything you would not want indexed. Deleting a post removes it from the site,
but we cannot remove copies that search engines, archives or other people have already made.
Your callsign is not required to use this site. If you choose to publish it, remember that
amateur licence records are already public in most countries, and that pairing a callsign with other
details you post makes you easier to identify.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal
information. Amateur radio has plenty of young operators; if you are one, please involve a parent or
guardian before registering.
Your choices
You can ask us to export or delete your account data. Deleting an account removes your profile
and email address; you can ask us to remove or anonymise your posts as well, and we will where doing
so does not destroy the sense of a conversation other people took part in.
You can browse with an ad blocker, a privacy extension or Do Not Track enabled and the site will
work normally. There is nothing here for them to block except the analytics beacon.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will change the date at the top
and say what changed.
